W. Paul Whitt Honored for his Service to the Legal Profession and the Community |
A number of Jackson lawyers were honored for their service to the legal profession and the community at the Tennessee Bar Association's annual meeting in Memphis. The TBA Young Lawyers Division president, Michelle Sellers, Presented her 2009 President’s Award to attorney W. Paul Whitt. Whitt was recognized for the work he did as chair of the YLD’s Wills for Heroes Committee. Throughout the past year, the committee organized 13 free legal clinics and served 416 first responders. The program, which was offered for the first time this past year, provides free end-of-life documents for firefighters, police officers, and other emergency personnel. About W. Paul Whitt Paul Whitt's practice focuses primarily in the areas of insurance defense and commercial litigation. His memberships include the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. Paul received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Union University and his law degree, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, he served as staff law clerk to the South Carolina House of Representatives assisting the Labor Commerce & Industry Committee in legislation related to real estate, public utilities, and banking/consumer affairs. Additionally, he received the CALI award for Public Policy and the Political Process. He also has served as an adjunct instructor of Business Law at Union University. He has been associated with the Firm since receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of South Carolina School of Law. |
