The Firm Welcomes Michael Burnett Joiner to its Memphis Office |
Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell, P.L.C., welcomes Michael Burnett Joiner as an associate to its Memphis office. Joiner's practice focuses primarily in the areas of litigation, employment law, insurance coverage and general insurance defense. He is a member of the Firm's Tort and Insurance Practice Group and Employment Law and Civil Rights Practice Group.
Joiner obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee. Joiner obtained his Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi, Phi Kappa Phi, where he achieved a perfect 4.0 average. Joiner obtained his law degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law where he served as a member of the University of Memphis Law Review, the Tournament of Champions National Moot Court Team competing in Houston, Texas. Joiner competed on the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team held in Columbia, South Carolina. Joiner was elected Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board, and he was a First Year Moot Court Champion. Joiner won the Best Oral Advocate in Moot Court in Tennessee Institute Program. Joiner held the position of Vice President of the Student Bar Association.
Joiner received the Leo Bearman, Sr. American Inns of Court Outstanding Pupil Award in 2008-2009. Joiner also received the Rita S. Geier Scholarship, the Tennessee Board of Regents Scholarship, the Evans & Petree Law Firm Scholarship in Honor of Percy Harvey, the Judge John D. Martin Scholarship and the Ben F. Jones Chapter National Bar Association Scholarship. Joiner also received a CALI Award for excellence in Sports Law.
Joiner is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, Magnolia Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, and the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association.
Joiner passed both the Tennessee and Mississippi Bars in 2009. He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Mississippi and Tennessee. He is admitted to practice in all federal courts in Mississippi. He is also admitted to practice in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Joiner is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Incorporated where he serves as the Southwestern Province Council Administrative Assistant for the State of Arkansas. Michael is the father of two children, Michael Jr. who passed away at birth in 1999 and Jamya.
