Mr. Shelby is an Associate with Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell, P.L.C., and has been associated with the Firm since receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law.

Mr. Shelby’s practice focuses primarily in the areas of employment law, general insurance defense, workers’ compensation, commercial litigation, and governmental tort liability. He is a member of the Firm’s Tort and Insurance Practice Group and the Employment Law and Civil Rights Practice Group.

Mr. Shelby obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mr. Shelby obtained his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law where he served as a member of the University of Memphis Law Review and the National Mock Trial Team competing in both Oxford, Mississippi and Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition, Mr. Shelby received the Herbert Herff Presidential Law Scholarship. While in law school, Mr. Shelby interned for the Honorable Diane K. Vescovo, Magistrate, for the United States District Court, Western District of Tennessee and the Honorable W. Frank Crawford, Tennessee Court of Appeals. Mr. Shelby also received CALI Awards for excellence in Labor Relations, Fair Employment Practices, Legal History, Secured Transactions, and Elder Law.

Mr. Shelby Is the author of “Putting My Money Where Your Mouth Is—An Analysis of a Public Teacher’s Right to Object to a Union’s Use of His or Her Dues for Political Purposes in an Open Shop State” Vol. 37 University of Memphis Law Review No. 4.

Mr. Shelby is a member of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.

Mr. Shelby was admitted to practice in 2007 by the Tennessee Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court of Tennessee for the Western District of Tennessee.
